Women and Our Woods: Game of Logging Level I

Women Owning Woods Vermont is hosting Game of Logging Level I to help you develop chainsaw skills. This class is the first in the series and focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. Each person in the class will cut down a tree. Participants must bring a safety helmet with a face shield, eye and ear protection, chaps, as well as lunch, water, and snacks for the day. If you do not have the appropriate equipment, please reach out to the us, as it should not stop you from attending. Bringing a chainsaw is recommended but not required.

Class size is limited to 10 participants. The cost for this class is $200 for WOW participants thanks to support from a Landscape Scale Restoration Grant. Contact VT Coverts for the registration link by emailing lisa@vtcoverts.org or call 802-877-2777.
